A. Dee Kemp
A. Dee Kemp, 56, of 3119 Glenwood Ave., former school teacher, died at his home of a heart ailment, having been ill for several years.
Mr. Kemp received his early education in Hartley, WV., taught in the Bell School there, attended Ohio University and achieved his bachelor of science degree in education in 1920. He received his masters degree at Ohio State University seven years later. He was principal at Bridgeport and Mansfield, before coming to Leavittsburg as superintendent. In 1922 he went to the Brookfield Township schools and six years later came to Washington School in Youngstown. He retired in 1932.
As a veteran of the First World War, Mr. Kemp served with the U.S. Marines in France. He was a member of American Legion Post 15, Bridgeport Masons F & A.M. No. 181.
He was born Dec. 26, 1888 in Hartley, W. Va., a son of Charles and Ida Kemp. He was in Youngstown 17 years.
Besides his wife, the former Florence Jones, whom he married 24 years ago, he leaves a daughter Janet at home, and a sister, Mrs. Ira Livingston of Bridgeport.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Hofmeister Memorial Funeral Home, where friends may call Wednesday evening.
