Ronald Lee Shockey

Mr. Ronald Lee “Donnie” , age 82, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Wednesday morning January 8, in the Davis Medical Center, he had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.

He was born June 5, 1937, at Wellsburg, WV, a son of the late Leonard and Lela Pearl Shockey. On July 9, he was united in marriage to the former Ann Shipman, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by one son; Richard Lee Shockey of Massillon, , two siblings; Lorion Shockey of Belington, Judy Harris and husband Tom of Belington, and his loving companion; Jean Newman of Elkins. Additional survivors include two grandchildren; Jessica and Jason.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son; Ronald Eric Shockey, one infant sister, two brothers; Larry and Joe Shockey, and one sister; Lillian Weese.

Ron was a graduate from the Belington High School with the class of and attended the First Church of Christ in Elkins. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean War Era. He was previously employed by BF Goodrich Gulf Chemicals at Institute, WV from 1959 to 1971 and also at BF Goodrich at Akron, Ohio from 1971 to . He was also a member of the H. W. Daniels American Legion Post # 29 of Elkins, where he was a former Commander, and a former Post Manager.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received from the Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Friday January 10, 2020 from 6pm – 8pm and again on Saturday January 11, 2020 from 8am – 12pm the funeral hour where final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Jason Brandon officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Arlington Cemetery at Harpertown where full military rites will be accorded by the H. W. Daniels American Legion Post #29 of Elkins, VFW post # 3647 of Elkins and the United States Navy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the First Church of Christ 300 Main Street Elkins, WV 26241. Condolences be sent to the family at www.talbottfuneralhome.com.
