James Marion Shockey

Marion “Butch” Shockey, 80, of Seneca, passed away Monday, December 30, at his home.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday January 3, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles with Rev. Philip of Stavanger Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Seneca with military honors.

James was born 9, in Seneca, to Charles Homer and Bertha Agnes () Shockey. In , he married Violet Elaine Blue of Marseilles who preceded him in death in .

He served in the Air Force. He was employed by Local 150 Operators Union until his retirement. He enjoyed wood working, making custom writing pens, and his favorite thing to do was move dirt. He was a Past Worshipful Master and life time member of the Cedar Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M in Morris.

Butch is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Ray) Jackson of Seneca; three grandchildren, Zachary (Felicia) Schumaker of Seneca, Carissa (Brian) Faletti of Diamond, and Mercedes Jackson of Evansville, IN; seven great-grandchildren, Malaki, Kenley, , Riley, Logan, Reagan and Kaia; and one sister, Bertha Sue Kern of Streator.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Homer Shockey; and four sisters, Mildred, , Audrey, and Delores.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or the Joliet Area Community Hospice.
