Judy E Ravenscroft *
Judy Elaine Ravenscroft, 74, of Lonaconing Street, Midland, died Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Peace Healthcare, Frostburg.
Born Sept. 22, 1948, in Modesto, Calif., she was the daughter of the late Harvey Duckworth and Dorothy (Burke) Duckworth. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cathy, born in 1968; and two of her sisters, Joyce Little and Shelia Duckworth.
Judy was a 1966 graduate of Sylmar High School, Sylmar, Calif. In September of 1967 she married her beloved husband, Robert, and they lived in San Diego until his separation from the U.S. Navy, in 1968. They then moved to LA until the summer of 1971, when a massive Sylmar earthquake occurred, moving them to Maryland. They lived in Baltimore for several years before moving to the Cumberland area, in 1978.
During her career as a nursing assistant, she had worked at several local nursing facilities including Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital and Sacred Heart Adult Daycare. She completed her career at Saint Vincent DePaul Nursing Home, as a nursing assistant and activities director. Early in her working career she volunteered with Georges Creek Rescue Squad, she studied for her EMT license and continued to volunteer for several years.
She and her husband had attended the First Assembly of God Church, Lonaconing. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and watching old movies. She also enjoyed needle point and crocheting when her children were younger.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Ravenscroft; two daughters, Dorothy Herzog and wife, Heather of Pittsburgh and Jessica Ravenscroft of Midland; two grandchildren, Haley Deneen and husband, Robert III and Ryan Winters; two great-grandchildren, Jace Winters and Robert Deneen IV; a sister, Betty Peterson, of Las Vegas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 4, 2023, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Marjorie Hurder-Buhrman officiating.
Interment will be held at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone.
