Martha L Oliver *

Martha Louise Culberson Oliver, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025, in her hometown of Plant City, FL, at the age of 88. Born on July 3, 1936, to the late Andrew Edward Culberson and Pearlie Mae Hodnett, Martha’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and faith.
Martha’s journey began in the warm embrace of Plant City, where she was not only born but also found her calling as a secretary in the banking industry. Her meticulous nature and warm demeanor made her a beloved figure at the 1st National Bank of Tampa, which later became the 1st National Bank of Florida. Her professional life was marked by dedication and excellence, traits that she carried into every aspect of her existence.
The heart of Martha’s world was her family. She was predeceased by her cherished husband, Jim Oliver, and her siblings, Edward Culberson, Bettye Smith, and Billy Culberson. Her legacy continues through her loving children, Cindy Nardelli, Pattye Shockey, and Andy (Sherrie) Oliver, as well as her dear sister, Shirley Lowe. Martha was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.
Martha’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of Church on the Rock, she lived her beliefs through acts of service and compassion. Her involvement with the church was a reflection of her commitment to her community and to the spiritual values she held dear.
Her interests were as varied as they were fulfilling. Martha found pleasure in the simple joys of word search and crossword puzzles, activities that kept her mind sharp and her spirit engaged. She was also an active participant at the Silver Heart Adult Daycare in Plant City, where she formed lasting friendships and continued to contribute to the community she loved so much.
Those who knew Martha will remember her for the love she so freely gave and the kindness that was the hallmark of her character. She was a woman who nurtured and cared, who listened and supported, and who always put others before herself. Her gentle presence will be deeply missed, but the warmth of her memory will continue to comfort and inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Martha’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of devotion, service, and joy. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the enduring impact she has made on the lives of her family, friends, and community.
