Berle D Berson
Berle Berson passed away on Oct. 11, 2023, in Henderson, Nev. Berle was born on April 27, 1938, to Boris and Dorothy (Shockey) Berson. He grew up in Winfield, Kan., and attended the University of Kansas, earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering while in attendance there. In 1961, he married Elizabeth Hartquist, and they had five children, David, Cindy, John, Pamela, and Neil. Berle worked as an electrical engineer until he retired, including projects for NASA designing part of a backup radio used on Apollo 13, experiments carried out on Skylab, and experiments that were part of a comet fly-by mission. He also served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader and enjoyed working on projects that challenged his mind. Berle is survived by his sister, Natalie (Kendler), partner, Marilyn Kaufman, sons David, John and Neil; daughter, Pamela (Wilson), and six grandchildren, Joshua, Courtney and Zachary Wilson, Alannah Berson, and Miranda (Basile) and Joshua Berson. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cindy. Berle’s funeral services will be held at Cedar Memorial, 4200 first Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Saturday, Oct. 28. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with services to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would request a donation be made to the American Heart Association or the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society.
