Betty M. Shockey *
LONACONING — Betty Mae (Sturtz) Shockey, 86, of Jackson Run Road, Lonaconing, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born on May 6, 1925, in Wellersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Karl Sturtz and Leona (Thomas) Sturtz. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Faye Dom, and by one great-grandson, John Ferree. Betty was a homemaker and a member of the Lonaconing Republican Club. She is survived by her husband, Calvin Leslie Shockey; one son, John Marshall Ferree, of Frostburg; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Susan Getz, of Wellersburg, Pa. and Doris Miller, also of Wellersburg, Pa.; one brother, Karlo Sturtz, of Ellerslie, and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A. (www.eichhornmckenzie.com) Lonaconing on Saturday, July 23, 2011, from noon to 2 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Harry Burchell officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
