Brenda K Meek *
Brenda Kay Meek age 76 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away early Friday morning July 14, 2023 at Ascension Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
She was born June 4, 1947 in Manila, Arkansas daughter of the late Robert Floyd and Dorothy Mae (Manning) Gregory.
Brenda resided in Sturgis since 1982 coming from Galien where she was a graduate of Galien High School with the class of 1964.
She was first married to Paul S. Pelfrey who preceded her in death on April 2, 2015. In September of 2021 she married George Meek in Sturgis.
Brenda had been employed by Mastercraft Furniture in Shipshewana, Indiana and Summit Polymers and the Citgo gas station both in Sturgis.
She was a member of the Christian Fellowship Center in Sturgis and Commission on Aging. She enjoyed playing games and cards and going out to eat with friends especially when they were dining at her favorite restaurant the In-Between Restaurant. Brenda loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband: George; son: Rodney (Jamie) Gregory of Mendon; daughters: Tayna Pfam and Chasity (Josh) Bender both of Sturgis; grandchildren: Travis (Sydney) Gregory, Tyler Merkle, Cody Gregory, Alyssa (Connor) Barsha, Jakob Merkle, Lilly Whisman, Billy Whisman and Owen Taylor; three great grandchildren: Tate Gregory, Kelly Gregory and Wyatt Barsha and expecting her fourth great grandchild any day. Sisters: Carolyn Swords of Niles, Tracy Bashore of Dowagiac and Hollie (Russ) Gentry of Niles; brothers: Sam Gregory of Niles and Mike Gregory of Nevada and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson: David Merkle, Jr and brother: Chris Gregory.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial services honoring and celebrating the life of Brenda Kay Meek will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 29th at the Christian Fellowship Center, 201 North Street in Sturgis. The Rev. Glen Middleton will officiate.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
