Charles R Shockey *

Charles R. Shockey, 78, passed away March 3rd, , surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 30th, , in Batesville, Indiana to parents Arnold and Mary () Shockey.

Charles grew up in Indiana and graduated from Versailles High School.

As a young man, Charles began his career at Amtrak. He held several positions within Amtrak, working for 40 years until retirement.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965-1967.

Charles was a valued member of the Masons, Brookside Masonic Lodge 720. He was also a dedicated member and Elder at Hope Christian Church.

On May 9th, 1970, Charles married the love of his life, Linda . They shared nearly 55 wonderful years together.

Charles was a loving, dynamic gentleman. In his younger years, he enjoyed working with horses. He had a lifelong passion for racing, especially NASCAR. A dedicated Hoosier, Charles was an avid fan of all the Indiana teams, IU, The Colts, the Pacers, as well as The Cincinnati Reds. Charles was very interested in history and his family genealogy. He and his family loved to travel together, near and far, and Charles enjoyed fishing. Above all, Charles was a devoted family man and spent as much time with them as possible.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his children Eric (Tammy) Shockey and Holly (Charles) ; grandchildren Zach (Grace), Brittany (), Madison, Isaac, and Callan, Alyssa (Peter), Jaren, Noah, Levi, Peyton and Parker; great-grandchildren , Gabriel, Eli, Bri’, Rossi, and Hudson; and fur baby, .

Visitation for Charles will be Monday March 10th, at Flanner Buchanan Park East, from 12-2pm; his funeral will begin at 2pm. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
