Cressia L. Downs *
Cressia L. DOWNS, 46, Lake Manitou, died at 1 p.m. Thursday in University Hospital, Indianapolis. She had been seriously ill for two weeks.
She was born Oct. 15, 1940 in Magoefin County, Ky., to George and Bessie WHITE KING. She moved to Rochester from Knox 23 years ago. On March 24, 1962 in Culver she married James M. DOWNS II. who survives. She, with her husband, was a co-owner and operator of Culligan Soft Water Service, Rochester. She was a charter member of the Rocheter Garden Club, a board member of the Fulton County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, a member of the Women of the Moose and the First Baptist Church.
Surviving with the husband are the father, of Knox; a daughter, Elizabeth L. [DOWNS], and a son, James M. [DOWNS] III, both of Rochester a grandson, Grant Morton DOWNS; four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Christal) STINEBACK, Beverly Shores, Mich.; Mrs. Don (Barbara) SHORTER, Knox; Mrs. Dale (Delores) BJORKS, Mishawake, and Mrs. Tom (Kathy) McMENAMIN, Chicago; six brothers, Jason [KING], Maui, Hawaii; Mark [KING], Chalmers; Daniel, Gary and Tom [KING], all of Knox, and Jerry [KING], Walkerton, and the mother-in-law, Helen SMITH, Rochester. The mother preceded in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Teal YOUNCE officiating. Burial wil be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
