Shockey Roots

Dorsa Allan Shockey of La Grange, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Dec. 23, 2024. He was born on May 15, 1926, in Wolfe County, Kentucky, to the late Beach F. and Stella Lou (Little) Shockey.
Dorsa was a kind and humble man, with a quiet generosity and a talent for all sorts of handcrafts. His creativity turned everyday items into treasures–from braided rugs to knitted sweaters and wooden furniture. Prior to earning a degree in electrical engineering from UK, Dorsa served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He went on to work for AT&T/Bellsouth, retiring with more than 30 years of service. He was a member of La Grange Baptist Church where he served faithfully for many years.
Dorsa was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Jean Bell Shockey; his son, Jamie D. Shockey; and his sons-in-law, William David Morris and Rex Alsbrooks. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Viki Morris, Alana Alsbrooks and Mark Allan Shockey (Melissa); his grandchildren, Jamie Lyn, Jeffery, Meredith and Diana; his great-grandchildren, Will, Erin, Jordan, Hannah, Izzie, Gabby, Graham and Oliver; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Burial will take place in Valley of Rest Cemetery in La Grange at a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in his name to La Grange Baptist Church.
