Upon his arrival at the Stephenson home he became very ill and the doctor was called and he passed away shortly after 2:35 p.m.. The death occured just a half hour befor his sister, Mrs. Wm. H. Pagel of Minneapolis, Minn., arrived by bus for a surprise visit. Had the bus arrived on time, Mrs. Pagel would have reached Spirit Lake just befor his death.

Welty and Mrs. Lloyd Dowd with Mrs. H. E. Ilsley as accompanist.
