Glenn R Shockey *

Glenn Robert Shockey, 77, of Jacksonville FL, passed away on January 29, 2024, while in hospice care at the McGraw Center of Caring at the end of an extended illness.

Glenn was born on January 23, 1947, in Middletown, Ohio to Glenn and Mary Jane Shockey. Glenn graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School in Middletown. He then enlisted in the US Army and served in Vietnam during his time in the Army. After his military service, Glenn graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He began careers in administration and sales. During his sales career, Glenn relocated to Philadelphia, Richmond and finally to Jacksonville FL where he lived the remaining years of his life. It was in Philadelphia that he met his wife, Kathleen Haskins, with whom he enjoyed the next 45 years.

Glenn enjoyed playing golf for many years. He was a lifelong auto racing fan, especially enjoying Nascar and Indy racing. He visited automobile race tracks all over the country frequently taking advantage of their race car experiences on the track. Glenn loved to travel with his wife, Kathy, and they traveled the world over their years together. He especially enjoyed living in Berlin, Germany for two years with Kathy during her ex-pat assignment there. At home he enjoyed cooking and attended many cooking classes all over the US and in countries to which they traveled.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Mary Jane Shockey. He is survived by his life partner and wife, Kathleen Haskins, and by his sister, Carol Mayhew of Yardley, PA. He is also survived by his two grandsons, Bailey and Alex Shockey, both of Columbus, Ohio. Glenn is also survived by his brothers-in-law Jack Haskins, Jr, Harry Haskins, and Michael Haskins and is survived by his sisters-in-law, Philomena Karol and Isabel Graf, as well as by a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Glenn will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

In accordance with Glenn’s wishes, there will be no services and his remains will be cremated.
