Helen E Stymiest *
Mrs. H. Elizabeth (Shockey) Stymiest, 94, of Mont Alto, PA, passed away Friday, December 8, 2023 at Paramount Senior Living, Fayetteville, PA, surrounded by her family.
Born February 11, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Hobert McKinley and Mary Alice (Newcomer) Shockey.
Mrs. Stymiest was a graduate of Quincy High School with the class of 1947.
She and her husband, the late Staat Stymiest were married January 4, 1951 in Hagerstown, MD. They were together for over 70 years when Mr. Stymiest passed away on May 23, 2021.
Mrs. Stymiest was employed with the Stanley Company from 1947 to 1951. She later worked at Quincy United Methodist Home as a cook from 1973 until her retirement in 1994.
She was a member of Mont Alto United Methodist Church for over 62 years and enjoyed walking and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her four children, Nancy Joy Weller and her husband, Bradley of Chambersburg, PA, Dirk T. Stymiest of Waynesboro, Patti D. Stitely and her husband, Gary of Fayetteville, Mary A. Kerr and her husband, Ward of Fayetteville, PA; three grandchildren, Nathan Stymiest (Cheryl), Shane Stymiest (Bobbi Jo Rector), and Miley Klein (Michael); four great-grandchildren, Lucas Stymiest, Talia Klein, Presley Jo Stymiest and Ellianna Klein; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Ramsey and Miriam Bender.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 30, 2023 in Mont Alto United Methodist Church, 10 S. Main Street, Mont Alto, PA with Pastor Loretta McClure officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Saturday morning, in the church.
