Karolyn Shockey *
Karolyn L. Shockey, 90, of Warren, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Trumbull Regional Medical Center. She was born March 26, 1934, in Warren, OH, a daughter of the late Lloyd H. Klingensmith and the late Kathryn L. Keller Klingensmith. Karolyn graduated from Bristol High School and went on to earn an associate degree in 1991 from Kent State University. She was employed as a medical secretary for 45 years, working at the Howland Pharmacy for 21 years and then the Poland Family Practice since 1995, retiring in 2014 at the age of 80. Karolyn was a member of Bazetta Christian Church where she served as a chairperson for the Church Board and Worship committee, a Deaconess, and a Church Youth Fellowship Sponsor. Other associations and interests include: Past President of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, coordinator of the Cortland Area Churches “Crop Walk” for over 25 years, charter member of C.H.O.W. Cortland Humanitarian Outreach Worldwide, and an avid reader. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Tod L Shockey of Toledo, OH, her daughter, Laura Kay (David) Cirillo of Champion,OH, grandchildren, Samuel and Katherine Shockey and Jacob and Kyle Cirillo as well as 12 nephews and 5 nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her ex-husband and friend, Hurshel “Dick” Shockey, whom she married May 14, 1954 and her brother, Leigh Klingensmith and sister, Juanita Ewing. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Bazetta Christian Church on Saturday, January 4th, 2024, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 10:00am – 11:00am at the church. Interment will be in Sager Memorial Cemetery, Bristolville, OH. The family requests that material contributions be made to Bazetta Christian Church, in her memory.
