Kelmer Shockey *

Kelmer ” Grey ” Shockey, 73, passed away peacefully at the Marion General Hospital on October 10, 2024, after a battle with cancer. He was born in the Hamlet of Belknap, Wolfe County, Kentucky. Grey was preceded in death by his father ( Richmond Shockey) and Mother (Wewoka Arnett-Shockey). He subsequently moved to Marion, Ohio, where he completed his studies at Marion Harding High School in . Grey went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Sharon Kay , in October of . They were married for 53 loving years. Shortly after marriage, Grey entered into service with the Army National Guard of Ohio, serving for 6 years.
Grey had an extensive career as a machinist, working at the Marion Power Shovel and at Rockwell International in Columbus, Ohio. He took great pleasure in working with automobiles, and was a passionate enthusiast of the “Muscle” era. Grey also took great pride in gardening and rustic glass crafting with jars. He was especially known for completing every endeavor with his unique desire for perfection.
Grey leaves behind his wife, Sharon, his sons, Douglas and David Shockey, his nephews, Ted Garner, and Todd & Troy , and his sisters-in-law, Sue Hawk and Flora Ann Garner. Grey was also be missed dearly by his dog, Tara, and his cat, Fluff.
Friends and family are invited to the visitation of Grey on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 5pm until 8pm at the Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place the following , Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 1pm, also at the Boyd Funeral Home. The committal service will immediately follow at Pleasant Cemetery. Pastor Tom Beckel will be officiating.
The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Dr. A. Bhinder, Dr. A. Bhatt, the 3rd Floor East Wing Medical Staff, and to the Hospice Staff for their care and compassion.
