Lawrence Bungor *
Lawrence (Larry) Earl Bungor, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at home with his loving wife Hazel (Miller) Bungor at his side. Born on September 5, 1943, in Takoma Park, MD, he was the son of the late Earl and Lucile (Fulton) Bungor. Larry and Hazel cared for Lucile for 8 years prior to her death. In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his son, Joseph Lesley Bungor, and brothers-in-law Richard Miller, Gordan Shockey, and Alva Yeager. Larry grew up in Washington, DC and attended private school in Takoma Park, MD. Larry worked at the Naval Research Lab in Maryland, before moving over to the Government Printing Office in Washington, DC where he worked as a machinist for 40 years before retiring. Larry loved to fly. He had four airplanes, the last being a Cessna 310. He also loved cars and was very proud of his Corvette. He would take trips to Arizona where he and friends would drive to California and go to car shows. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hazel Bungor; and sisters-in-law Jo Anne Shockey and Le Rae Yeager; brothers-in-law David Miller (Ruby) and Gary Miller (Connie); and by many nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Willow Brook Seventh Day Adventist Church, 8916 Mapleville Rd, Boonsboro, MD 21713, on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way, Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740. Arrangements were made with J.L.
