Lucile R Dawson *

Lucile R. , 97, died at 11:15 p.m. April 1, , at Auglaize Acres Nursing Home, Wapakoneta.

She was born June 6, 1913, in Allen County to William A. and Elizabeth Wessler , who preceded her in death. On May 16, 1931, she married Donald C. Dawson Sr., who died in July .

Mrs. Dawson was a 1930 graduate of High School. She had been a sales clerk at Grants, S.S. Kresges and Rinks department stores. She attended Crossroads Church of God. She enjoyed gardening and had 60 tomato plants two years ago. She was known for her homemade cinnamon rolls, yeast breads and fruit cakes. She was a very talented seamstress She enjoyed spending time with family and loved to travel.

Survivors include 10 children, Betty L. , of Lima, Ruth Joan () Wren, of Columbus, Phillip D. (Sharon) Dawson, of , Marion H. “Butch” Dawson, of Unadilla, N.Y., Sarah L. (Wayne) Bowers, of Sherwood, Margaret S. “Peg” (James) Day and James M. Dawson, both of West Newton, Beverly A. McDonald, of Huntsville, Kathleen J. Ruck, of Wapakoneta, and Jonathon H. Dawson, of Marysville; 38 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, William Smith, of Mississippi; a sister, the Rev. Bernice Pfautz, of Marion; a daughter-in-, Joy Dawson, of Spencerville; and several nieces and nephews who were the children of Charles and Ruth Dawson.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald C. Jr. and Thomas L. Dawson; two daughters-in-law, Rhonda Dawson and Beverly Dawson; a son-in-law, Ray E. Morris; two brothers, Marion and Howard “Jake” Smith; and a sister, Ruth Dawson.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor Todd Van Buskirk and Pastor Jerry Hall will officiate.
