Mrs. Emma Shockey
Mrs. Emma Shockey of Berlin died in Hazel McGilvery Hospital, Meyersdale, Saturday, Jan. 29, after a brief illness. She was born December 19, 1879, at Eckhart, Md., the daughter of George and Anna Catherine Werner Horchler and was aged 69 years, one month and 10 days. After marrying Lewis R. Shockey, she made her home in Berlin where they owned and operated the Shockey Hotel on Main Street. About two years ago, they sold their hotel and moved to their home on Broadway which they purchased from Wallace Walker. Mrs. Shockey will be remembered for the many kind deeds she did during her lifetime. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Edward Reed, and a grandson, Edward Reed Jr.; also sisters and brothers – Mrs. Tillis Lehman and Mrs. John Fradiska, Albert and John Horchler, all of Cumberland. ??????? Church. Funeral services were held at the Johnson Funeral Home, Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert S. Nagle officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Berlin, Pa.
