Mrs. Gertrude Hughes English
Mrs. Gertrude Hughes English, 92, of High Point, N.C, formerly of Cook Twp., died Friday in the Piedmont Christian Home, High Point, N.C. She was born July 10, 1884, in Cook Twp., a daughter of the late Eli and Susan Kuhns Hughes. She was a retired school teacher, having taught for 51 years in the High Point schools. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. English, in 1975. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. R. Susan Mershon of Latrobe RD 5 and Mrs. Nettie Belle Custis of Natrona Heights; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the James P Gaunt Funeral Home, Pleasant Unity, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert C. Schlotter officiating. Interment will follow in the Unity Cemetery.
