Mrs. Mary E. Shoup
Mrs. Mary E. Shoup, 74, widow of Edward M Shoup, 256 Park St., died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Guilford Convalesarium. She had been in failing health the past 10 years and suffered a stroke in February 1965. She was admitted to the Waynesboro Hospital, Dec. 15, and was transferred to the Guilford home on Tuesday. Mrs. Shoup was born in Greencastle May 21, 1894, a daughter of the late George A. and Sallie Needy Shockey. She moved to Shady Grove as a teenager. She and Mr. Shoup continued to live in Shady Grove until his death in 1945. In 1955, she moved to Waynesboro, and for a number of years was employed as a cook at the Waynesboro Hospital. She later worked at the Asba Garment Co., Greencastle. She had made her home with her son, Robert G Shockey, on Park Street since 1965. Mrs. Shoup was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle. In addition to her son, she is survived by two stepchildren, Charles E Shoup and Mrs. Gladys Gentler, both of Greencastle; one grandson, and four step grand-children. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, in charge of Pastor Roy A Gutshall. Burial will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening from 7 to 9.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E Shoup were held Saturday in the Grove Funeral Home in charge of Pastor Roy A Gutshall. Internment was made in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. Pallbearers were; Abram Gearhart, Jacob Gearhart, Albert Helm, Roland P Miner, Ervin Pentz, and C. Samuel DeHart.
