Norma J Gossard *
Norma J. Gossard, 82, of Lima passed away surrounded by her loving family at 8:23 PM on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born on February 27, 1942, in Ada, Ohio to Virgil M. and Ethel M. (Doersam) Klingler, who both preceded her in death. On August 9, 1968, she married Lewis Eugene Gossard, who preceded her in death on June 9, 2012.
Norma was a teacher for over 33 years and retired from Shawnee Maplewood School in 1995. She grew up attending Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Ada and taught Sunday school there. She later attended Shawnee United Methodist Church. She graduated from Ada High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, 4-H and went to New York City with Y-Teens. Norma was a graduate of Ohio Northern University, where she was a member of Alpha XI Delta Sorority and then earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University. She loved traveling the world. She loved gardening, flowers, arts and crafts. Above all else, she loved spending time with her grandsons and family.
Surviving are her son Gregory Eugene (Claudia) Gossard of Redondo Beach, CA; her daughter Shelley Renee (Douglas) Drury of Lima; her grandsons Christian Lewis Gossard, Caleb Gregory Gossard, Hunter Lewis Drury, Painter Thomas Drury and Sailor Douglas Drury; her brother Ronald (Anita) Klingler; her brother-in-law Thomas (Joan) Gossard; her sister-in-law Sue (Jerry) Black.
She was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law Jerry (Sylvia) Gossard, Robert (Helen) Gossard and Clair Roger (Jeanette) Gossard; her sisters-in-law Ruth Gossard and Joan Burt.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 14, 2024, at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, with Rev. Lori Wright officiating.
Interment will be in Shawnee Cemetery immediately following the services at the funeral home.
