Orville E Shockey *
Orville Shockey, beloved husband of Ellen Shockey for fifty-seven years, departed this earthly life surrounded by family the afternoon of Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Orville was eighty-seven years, ten months and eleven days wise at the time of his passing.
One of eight children, he was born Orville Eddie Shockey on April 7, 1928, in Isabella, Missouri, the son of Frankie Allen and Georgie Ellen (Barnett) Shockey. He had four brothers and three sisters. He grew up in Ozark County and spent most of his life there. On Nov. 27, 1957, he married Ellen Maxine Harris in Ava, Missouri, and to this union seven children made up the Shockey Family. He was a valued fishing guide on Bull Shoals Lake for many years and a skilled logger by trade. Orville was a Christian man and very strong in his faith. Second to faith was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a loyal brother and friend.
Orville leaves behind his cherished wife of fifty-three years, Ellen Shockey of the home in Seymour; three sons, Delbert Shockey of the state of Washington, Wayne Shockey of Seymour, and Randy Shockey of Theodosia, Missouri; two daughters, Orvella and Tim Edmondson, of Mansfield, Missouri, and Gail and Al Kimmen, of Isabella; two daughters by his previous marriage to Nadine Stafford, Kathleen and Betty Shockey, both of the state of California; twenty-five grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Rena Shockey of Isabella, and Macy Simms of Gainesville, Missouri; and many more extended family, dear friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, Orville was preceded in death by two sons, Frankie Eugene Shockey and Leroy Harris; brothers, Clarence Shockey, Tilford Shockey, Bert Shockey and Allen Shockey; and sisters, May Friend, Janie Duggan and Raye Smart.
