Richard L. Shockey
Richard L. Shockey, 46, 385 E. Queen St., died at 2 a.m. Saturday in Chambersburg Hospital. He was in ill health for a year, and critically ill for two weeks.
Mr. Shockey was born July 5, 1926, in Chambersburg, a life-long resident of this community.
He was a son of the late W.H. and Amelia Reidenbaugh Shockey.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served from 1944 to 1947.
Formerly he was employed for 15 years by Stanley Manufacturing Co., and was last employed by Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America as business agent for 13 years.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Betty Ann Hersh Shockey, four daughters; Mrs. Roy (Meriann) Apple Jr.; 221 Lincoln Way East; Amy Jo. Ellen and Kathy Sue, and a son, Richard L. Shockey II, all at home; a granddaughter, five brothers; J. Mearl Shockey, R.R. 8; H. Walter Shockey, 581 Nelson St.; Robert H. Shockey, 48 Woodstock Rd.; Fayetteville; W. Harry Shockey 47 Hazel St.; John W. Shockey, 130 E. Liberty St.; three sisters, Mrs. Elwood (Margaret) Fennel, St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Edris Rickrode, Madison, Ohio; Mrs. Harold (Mary) Nitschke, 249 S. Fourth St.; A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Burial will be held Tuesday in Lincoln Cemetery.
