Rina N Shockey *
Rina Niccolina Shockey, age 98, passed away at the Black River Falls Memorial Hospital on January 6, 2025.
Rina was born in Florence, Italy, on December 6, 1926 to Caterina and Nino Franci. She was later married to Frank Pogany in 1944 in Italy. They had five children. She came to America from Italy and lived in both Illinois and Wisconsin. In 1968 she was wed to Donald Shockey in Illinois.
She was employed at Hackneys, Lake Zurich, IL, as a cook for many years. She also cleaned for the restaurant.
Rina loved spending time at her home in Hatfield, WI with her family, gardening, WINE, cooking, toast, bread, and salami. She liked to go for walks, and sitting outside in the warmth of the sunshine. She enjoyed playing and feeding Nina and Puppy under the table, whatever she didn’t want to eat.
She is survived by her children, Louis, Frank (Dianna), Rinetta (Gary), Lucia, Jack (Julie), and Lenae (Bryan) along with 5 step-children; grandchildren, Nicole, Catherine, Jason, Ivy, Abby, Heidi, Jenny, Jesse (Maggie), Jamie (Nate), Gage (Jessa), Merrissa, Tony, Carmen, and Katelyn; 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many more loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Frank Pogany and Donald Shockey; granddaughters, Katie and Ashley; daughter-in-law, JoAnn; great-grandson Michael; and sister FiFi.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Shamrock Union Church at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. There will be a luncheon to follow at Addie’s in Black River Falls.
