Robert F. Campbell *
Robert F. Campbell, 51, 601 Brackney, Brookston, was found dead in his home at 4:25 p.m. Monday by his wife. Campbell reportedly hung himself according to police officials and White County Deputy Coroner K. L. Smith.
Born May 2, 1923 in Indianapolis, he was reared in Columbus and had resided in the Lafayette area for 29 years. His marriage on June 12, 1948, was to June Avanelle Shockey.
The deceased was a postal clerk at the Lafayette annex for 17 years and was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Lafayette, and American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Pamela Elaine Campbell, Lafayette; one son, Pvt. Robert Joseph Campbell, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; his mother, Mrs. Della Orrell, Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Collins, Columbus and Betty Campbell, New York City, New York, and one brother, Edwin E. Campbell, Columbus.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hippensteel Chapel, Lafayette. Rev. Owen M. Burke will officiate and interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday.
