William C Bredenfoerder *
A longtime resident of Cincinnati, William C. Bredenfoerder peacefully passed away December 27th. William (Bill) was married to his beloved wife of 60 years, Beverly J. (nee Shockey) Bredenfoerder. Bill was born to Howard and Marguerite (nee Kain) Bredenfoerder in 1940 as the second of six children.
Bill and Bev cherished their three daughters and three sons-in-laws, Lisa (Todd) Yawit, Shelly (Don) Korengel, and Sheri (Greg) Schweppe. Bill treasured the role of being Pappie to his seven grandchildren: Kristen Yawit (Jon) Casstevens, Megan Korengel (Hunter) Pay, Sara Yawit (Tyler) Ware, Ryan (Danielle Risser) Korengel, Haley Schweppe, Abbey Schweppe, and Will Schweppe. He was also blessed with one great granddaughter, Palmer Lee Pay.
Bill grew up in Mariemont, Ohio, playing tennis at the village tennis courts. He graduated from Mariemont High School in 1958. He had great success in tennis winning numerous awards throughout his high school career.
As he started college, he enlisted in the Army and took great pride in his service in the military. He attended the University of Cincinnati where he started his career as a co-op at Belding Corticelli. As a long-term employee of the five textile companies that were eventually merged/acquired, Bill dedicated 50 years to the textile industry working in every line of business and retired as the Vice President of International Sales. During his professional tenure, he was recognized for the prestigious designation of Associate Member of the International Clothing Designers Club. Upon retirement, Bill worked as a consultant for Coates Textiles for 13 years putting his textile operations knowledge and expertise to good use in manufacturing.
Bill enjoyed regular tennis matches and his golf group in his free time. He also was passionate about history and often enjoyed reading or watching military documentaries.
A private service for the family will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Bill will always be indebted to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, so in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ryan Korengel’s name to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital: https://give.cincinnatichildrens.org
