Carol Hines

Carol Hines was born Aug. 26, in Oak Park, and passed away peacefully at her home in Orange Beach, Alabama on Aug. 20, .
She was predeceased by the love of her life, Joe .
She is survived by her children, Merida Hines Tyler, Camille Brown (Peter), Ashley Mohrman (Morgan) and Hines. Her grandchildren are Drew Tyler, Clay and Chase Mohrman, Christian, Emery and Clarke Hines; and great-grandchildren, and Addison Tyler. She is also survived by her sister, Mary “Taffey” Lynch Lichter. She was adored by all in her family.
Carol grew up in Lexington, North Carolina, attended Salem Academy and graduated from the University of Alabama where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.
She married John Hines and raised her four children in Alabaster, Alabama.
Carol was a thriving independent entrepreneur. She owned several bookstores, “Paperbacks,” located in Birmingham and Gulf Shores. She also had a successful brochure business in Orange Beach where she operated out of the of her Buick Roadmaster station wagon.
She loved flowers, gardening, dancing and a good bridge game. Carol was a longtime member of a ladies bridge club in Birmingham, since , and also the Orange Beach Bridge Club.
Over the years, Carol was an ardent advocate of protecting the beauty of Orange Beach.
The family is grateful for the loving care given by Springhill Hospice and her dedicated caregivers.
A private memorial service is planned.
