Margaret Menn *
ENGLEWOOD, FLA. – Margaret Sipe Menn, 91, formerly of New Middletown, passed away peacefully on Nov. 4, 2012, at Englewood Community Hospital in Englewood.
Margaret was born Aug. 31, 1921, in New Middletown, a daughter of Lawrence and Clara (Kurtz) Sipe. She was the second of eight children and was a 1939 graduate of Springfield Local High School.
Margaret worked as a secretary at the Schween Wagner Photography Studio in Youngstown after graduation and married Albert “Tado” Menn on April 1, 1953. They lived in Arizona, New Mexico and New Middletown before settling in Englewood in the 1960s, where they lived a quiet coastal life enjoying the company of many friends and family. Her beloved husband died on Feb. 13, 1992.
Margaret had a passion for cooking and sharing her recipes with everyone. She maintained close contact with her community activities until health prevented her. She and a friend started a reunion for her 1939 classmates from Springfield Township High School who had moved to Florida. That tradition continues each year through her sister, Carol, as “Springfield Day” for all alumni of her hometown.
Besides her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth Sipe, John Sipe, Robert “Skippy” Sipe; and sister Doris Blower.
She is survived by her sisters, Ruth Rabovsky of New Middletown and Carol Reese of Sarasota, Fla.; brother Lawrence (Eleanor) Sipe of New Middletown; sister-in-law Pauline Sipe of Englewood; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
She loved Englewood and all in the community that helped in her later years, allowing her to live at home until failing health required hospital care where she passed peacefully under the care of Hospice and family.
Per Margaret’s wishes, the Lemon Bay Funeral Home handled her remains with no local funeral services.
