Violet E. Shockey *
Violet Elaine Shockey, 78, of Seneca, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 at her home.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday February 2, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles with Rev. Philip Peterson of Stavanger Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Seneca at a later date. The Hagi & Baker Funeral Home in Streator is in charge of cremation rites.
Violet was born October 3, 1939 in Ottawa, to Harvey Thurber and Violet (Gowin) Blue. In 1958, she married James Shockey of Seneca, who survives.
She was employed by Ottawa Pavilion until her retirement. Violet was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Violet is survived by her husband, James “Butch” Shockey; a daughter, Carolyn (Ray) Jackson of Seneca; three grandchildren, Zachary (Felicia) Schumaker of Seneca, Carissa (Brian) Faletti of Diamond, and Mercedes (Kye) Glosson of Evansville, IN; six great-grandchildren, Kenley, Reese, Riley, Reagan, Malaki, and Logan; two sisters, her twin, Viola (Jack) Mosier of Seneca, and Helen Kolotka of Wilmington; one brother, Chuck Blue of Louden, TN; and many nieces and nephews including her additional “daughters”, Jody (Rick) Timmons, Cheryl (Bob) Higgins and Jackie (Pat) Ugolini.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harvey “Babe”, Billie, Dan, Walter “Toad”, Dickie, Bob and Randall; and a sister, Wanda.
