Violet E. Shockey *

Violet Elaine Shockey, 78, of Seneca, passed away Sunday, January 28, at her home.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday February 2, at Seals- Funeral Home in Marseilles with Rev. Philip Peterson of Stavanger Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Seneca at a later date.  The Hagi & Baker Funeral Home in Streator is in charge of cremation rites.
Violet was born October 3, in Ottawa, to Thurber and Violet (Gowin) Blue. In , she married Shockey of Seneca, who survives.
She was employed by Ottawa Pavilion until her retirement. Violet was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Violet is survived by her husband, James “Butch” Shockey; a daughter, Carolyn (Ray) of Seneca; three grandchildren, Zachary (Felicia) Schumaker of Seneca, Carissa (Brian) Faletti of Diamond, and Mercedes (Kye) Glosson of Evansville, IN; six great-grandchildren, Kenley, , Riley, Reagan, Malaki, and Logan; two sisters, her twin, Viola (Jack) of Seneca, and Helen Kolotka of Wilmington; one brother, Chuck Blue of Louden, TN; and many nieces and nephews including her additional “daughters”, Jody (Rick) Timmons, Cheryl (Bob) Higgins and Jackie (Pat) Ugolini.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harvey “Babe”, Billie, Dan, Walter “Toad”, Dickie, Bob and ; and a sister, Wanda.
