C. Wilbur Rook Jr. *

Mr. C. Wilbur , Jr., 86, a resident of The Leland of Laurel Run and formerly of Brookdale Drive, both of Waynesboro, died Saturday evening, March 11, , in the assisted living center.
Born June 12, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Clyde W. Rook, Sr. and Carrie G. (Decker) Rook. He lived most of his life in the Waynesboro area.
Mr. Rook graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of .
He and his wife of over 65 years, Mary E. “Susie” () Rook, were married on November 25, in Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro. They moved to Brookdale Drive in March .
In his early life, Mr. Rook worked as a salesman for Penn Dairies for the offices in both Waynesboro and Gettysburg. He later worked for DeRose Industries, Chambersburg and Jerr-Dan in Greencastle. Prior to retiring in , he was sales manager for Danco, Greencastle. Following his retirement, he worked part time for Glessner Alarm and Communication Systems, Hagerstown, MD.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, where he was a member of the Married Couples Sunday School class and was a past president of the class. He was also a member of Eagles Club, Inc., Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, Nation AARP and South Chapter #2977 AARP. He was a life member of the Always There Hook and Ladder Company #1, Waynesboro and was a former member of B.P.O Elks Lodge #731 and the Waynesboro Lions Club.
When he was young, Mr. Rook enjoyed being a member of the Waynesboro Tigers. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, and woodworking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister in , Joan M. Shadle of Waynesboro; his brother in law, Richard E. Thompson of Mechanicsburg, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ronald E. Rook and Dorothy Jean Ringer.
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
