Gary D. Grosboll *
Gary D. Grosboll, of Maumee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 22, 2010, in Hospice of Toledo at the age of 67. Gary was born to Lorin and Imogene (Shockey) Grosboll in Decatur, Illinois on July 18, 1942, and grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina.
A proud graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Gary earned his MBA from Georgia Southern University in 1971. Eventually pursuing a career in human resources with a specific focus on industrial relations and organized labor negotiations, Gary earned his certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Throughout his career, Gary lived in various places around the country. Before moving to Toledo in 2004, he was a resident of Iowa City, Iowa, where he was a Brother of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Cedar Rapids.
Gary enjoyed collecting and watching movies, reading, telling jokes, photography, and model railroading.
Preceded in death by his parents and his beloved cat, Nicky.
Gary is survived by his sister, Martha J. Blank; niece, Laurie (Jerry “Dewey”) Watson; nephews, Bryan Blank and David Blank; great nieces, Amari Torres and Sierra Watson; and great nephews, Ethan, Avery, and Dereck Watson.
The family will receive friends at the Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary, 3815 Sylvania Avenue (between Monroe and Talmadge Rd.), Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment at Toledo Memorial Park will be private. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Parkcliffe Community, Toledo, and all of Gary’s friends at the Alexis Dialysis Center.
