Carol H. Torgerson *

Carol Torgerson, of Georgetown, Texas passed away at her daughter’s home on March 15, 2018. She was 80 years young.

Born Carol Hope in Melvindale, on April 4, , she is preceded in death by her parents, William Rister and Florence Helen as well as her brother William Robert Rister. Surviving siblings are sister Janet May (Rister) O’Connell of Randolph, Mass. and brother Jeffery Earl Rister of Loudon, .

After graduating high school, Carol proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army. She considered it her life’s greatest honor to serve our country.

During her stint in the Army, Carol met and married a fellow soldier, Howard Curtis . Carol and Howard had two children, Vicki Darlene (Bibbee) Jackimiec Georgetown Texas and Mark Curtis Bibbee, State.

Her second marriage with Robert Melvin Torgerson, also a veteran, produced a daughter Alice Marianne Torgerson, Prineville, .

Carol lived in Quincy, Washington where she worked at the local post office for many years.

After retiring she moved to Yuma, and enjoyed life to the fullest. Carol was known as an outstanding dancer and ardent music lover.

She leaves behind treasured friendships from her Yuma days. Carol was also an avid crossword puzzle fan and always did them in ink. She was bold like that.

Gratitude to the A-Med Hospice team for their caring assistance during the family’s time of need. Carol donated her body to Texas A&M and will be cremated at a later date.

Although there will be no memorial service, Carol and her family would like to remind everyone to hug a veteran and be an organ donor.

Strap on your dancing shoes again momma – the Lord loves a great jitterbug.
