James E. Alsover *

LCDR E. , 82, born in Philadelphia, PA, died at San Antonio Community Hospital, Upland, CA. Commander Alsover lived a full and talented life. He began studying the trumpet as a child and continued serving many organizations with his faithful attendance and musical ability. He served the U.S. Navy for 22 years as Executive Officer aboard destroyers, seeing action in four wars. He belonged to several Masoni c groups, Knights Templar, the Shrine and was the National Musician for Sojourner’s, the patriotic group of Masons. Dixieland Jazz was dear to his heart. He is survived by his wife, Dona; daughter Heidi and son James (Ace). He leaves two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A military funeral will be held at Funeral Home on Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m. Reception follows at First United Methodist Church of Upland. Private interment at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside. Stone Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
