Dorothy A. Shockey *
Shockey, Dorothy A. (nee Dietle) On April 30. 2013 age 95 of Moorestown, NJ. Dorothy was born in Somerset County, Pa. in 1917 and moved to Moorestown in 1947 with her late husband Rev. Dr. Ralph Shockey when he became the Administrator of the newly acquired Lutheran Home of Moorestown.
Mrs. Shockey was a founding member of the St. Mathew Lutheran Church of Moorestown since its creation in 1950 and co-founded the Church Woman United, a worldwide ecumenical organization from who she received the Valiant Woman award recently form the local chapter. Dorothy was a charter member of the Auxiliary to the Lutheran home and remained active for 66 years and received the Life Achievement award in 2009. She was a longtime member of the Moorestown Woman’s Club, Chaired the First PTA Fair in 1950 and was a charter member of the Historical Society of Moorestown that her late husband help found. Dorothy was very active in many events and organization’s into her 90’s and she excelled at Bridge and was a loyal Phillies Fan.
Wife of the late Rev. Dr. Ralph Shockey. Mother of the late Ann, Dave and Bonnie. Grandmother of Michele (John), David Jr. (Maria) and Carol (Jose). Great Grandmother of Joseph, Isabella. Also survived by many beloved Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral service Saturday 10:30 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 318 Chester Ave. Moorestown. NJ. Interment Private. Memorial contributions to the Auxiliary of the Lutheran Home, 255 E. Main St. Moorestown, NJ. or St. Matthews Lutheran Church.
