Jeanie Kay Shockey *
Jeanie Kay Shockey, 71, of Rockville Street, Lonaconing, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland.
Born on Nov. 8, 1948, she was the daughter of the late William W. Smith and Flora (Muir) Smith.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Billie Jean Laughlin and husband, Joe, and a daughter-in-law, Tammie Shockey.
Jeanie was a 1966 graduate of Valley High School and attended Catherman’s Business School. For 25 years she and her husband owned and operated Marshall’s Confectionery, Lonaconing. More recently she worked as a pharmacy tech for The Medicine Shoppe, Lonaconing. Jeanie enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, but most of all she loved her sons and her grandchildren dearly.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Tom Shockey; two sons Tommy Shockey and wife, Carla, and Chris Shockey and wife, Stacey; four grandchildren, Evan, Haylee, Caden and Cameron; step-granddaughter, Codi Sines and husband, Josh, and their son, Easton; two sisters, Nellie Woods and husband, Tom, and Louise Johnson and husband, Wayne; mother-in-law, Wanda J. Shockey; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing, on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Jeanie to First Presbyterian Church, 1 East Main St., Lonaconing, MD 21539.
