Dorothy J. Hebb *

Waynesboro – Dorothy , 85, of Eastland Circle, Waynesboro passed peacefully on April 20, . She was born on October 21, 1935, the daughter of Margaret of Waynesboro, PA.
She is survived by her children Dave (Kathy), Brenda Miller (Tom), stepchildren, Sandy , Dodie Bingaman (Dick), daughter-in-law Sherry Shockey, her grandchildren: David Shockey Jr., Brian Shockey (Jenny), Ashlyn Shockey, Chris Miller, Jenna
Hess (), Jordan Miller (Sheena), Trisha Miller, Faith Miller, Nikki Shockey (Justin), Allie Shockey (Nathan), Hannah Shockey, Jacob (Brianna), Tasha Skutch (Joel). Great grandchildren: Alexis Shockey, Janelle Shockey, Vanessa Shockey, Owen Shockey, Kenzie Shockey, Cadence Shockey, Parker Shockey, Callie , Reed Wagaman, Jackson Skutch, Camden Miller, James Hess, David Hess, Joseph Hess, Brinley Baker, and Macee Baker.
As a lifelong resident of Waynesboro, she enjoyed good food and good music, frequenting local diners and dancing to country western at jam nights. She played cards with friends, watched Hallmark movies with her grandchildren, and always reserved afternoons for the “Soaps”. She travelled the world, visiting locations such as Japan, London, Hawaii, and the Caribbean Islands. She took her children and grandchildren on many trips to Walt Disney World, Virginia Beach, the Smoky Mountains, and Cape May, NJ. Recently, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her companion Ron Wagaman. She was an avid philanthropist and contributed to many organizations such as the local Cancer Auction, The Gleaning Project, Women in Need, Greenhill Cemetery, and Renfrew Park, as well as countless private individuals in need.
From a young age, Dorothy worked at her mother’s restaurant in addition to the local shoe factory. She married Gene Shockey at age 16 and they opened an autobody and towing business. She took pride in running the tow truck and keeping the books. After his untimely passing, she took over the body shop in while raising three small children. Shortly after his death, she battled breast cancer and won. She went on to remarry and became a vital part in managing and expanding Hebb’s dealerships and body shops over the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, C. Eugene Shockey, husband, Dean Hebb, son, Mike Shockey, stepsons, Denny Hebb and Dean Hebb Jr., granddaughter, Shannon Shockey, grandsons, Jason Reeder and Michael Shockey.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Friday, April 23, 2021 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro with Pastor Daryl Lehman officiating.
