Charles R. Shockey *

Mr. Charles Robert Shockey, 86, a resident of Quincy Village and formerly of Skiway Ave., Waynesboro, passed away Friday morning, April 23, , in the nursing home.

Born 8, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Margie B. () Shockey.

Mr. Shockey served with the United States Army.

He and his wife, the late Sonja Lee (Fix) Shockey, were married on August 27, in Thurmont, MD. Mrs. Shockey died on November 7, .

As a teenager, Mr. Shockey worked on Lyons Farm. He later worked for Letterkenny Army Depot and the Disposal Plant for the Borough of Waynesboro. He retired in .

He enjoyed being a baseball coach for Pen Mar League. He also enjoyed watching baseball, football, and nascar and spending time with his family.

He is survived by five children, Brenda L. Kayhoe of Rouzerville, Sherry L. Geesaman and her husband, Kelly of Rouzerville, Charles L. Shockey and his wife, Patricia of Chambersburg, Gary L. Shockey and his wife, April of Greencastle, and Teresa A. Hind and her husband Tom of Waynesboro; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; one sister, Doris Martz of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-, Ed Kayhoe; and four sisters, Thelma Rouzer, Rouzer, Gladys Weddle, and Bessie Socks.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, Rouzerville, PA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Monday evening, in the funeral home.
