Philip J Gleason *
Philip J. Gleason, 87, formerly of Green Street, Palmyra passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Country Meadows of Hershey. Born October 7, 1933 in Philadelphia, he was the widower, after almost 55 years of marriage, of Sondra J. Gleason since August 2015. Retired from the former M. Brenner & Sons, Harrisburg, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Gettysburg College in 1961 and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. A member of the Brownstone Lodge #666 F. & A. M. and Lebanon Country Club, Philip was an avid golfer, voracious reader, loved to fish, and enjoyed flying his airplane from Reigle Airport in his younger years. He was especially proud of his daughter and granddaughters. Surviving are his daughter Kay Y. Zimmerman (widow of Eric Steindl) of Palmyra; granddaughters Jennifer Zimmerman Krause (husband Brian) of Hershey and Kara Zimmerman of Chicago, Illinois; and brother-in-law Mark Shockey (wife Bonnie) of Millersville. Private interment, with military honors, in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
