Reid O Walker *
Reid Oscar Walker, 82, of Somerset, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at home. Born Dec. 23, 1926, in Somerset, he was a son of the late Philip H. and Missouri E. (Miller) Walker.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Stringent, and son, Philip R. Walker.
He was survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean (Shockey) Walker; daughters, Deborah Baker and husband, Ken, of Berlin, Diane Pritts and husband, Barry, of Harrisburg, and Barbara Spisso and husband, Ron, of Greensburg; son, Scott Walker, of Somerset; daughter-in-law, Karen (Kinsinger) Walker, of Somerset; brother, Ross E. Walker, of Somerset; grandchildren, Jill Coyle, Jeff Langley and wife Roni, Weston and Jordan Pritts and Jordan’s wife Ashley, Alison Kehl, Katie and Kelsey Stringent, Paige and Marcus Spisso, Steven Walker and wife Rose, and Ryan and Tyler Walker; great-grandchildren, Ashton Coyle and Gunner Greer; five stepgrandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Reid was a 1944 graduate of Somerset High School and a World War II Navy veteran. He was a truck owner-operator in Somerset for 57 years. He was a lifelong member of the Somerset Church of the Brethren, where he served as a trustee, an usher and in the Men’s Fellowship. He also was a past member of the board of directors of the Church of the Brethren Home. He was a volunteer at the Somerset Food Pantry and was a regular at “Over The Hill Gang” gatherings. Reid was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park with full military honors accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard.
