Sylvester S Goff *
Fayetteville – Sylvester Singleton Goff, 91, of Route 1, Fayetteville died Thursday in a Montgomery hospital after a short illness. Born Jan. 11, 1877, in Putnam County, he was the son of the late Jabe and Augusta Harmon Goff. He was a retired miner and merchant and a member of the First Brethren Church at Gatewood and the Knights of Pythios Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Jones Goff; three sons, Jesse C. and Walter E., both of Fayetteville, Route 1, and Clifton Max Goff of Minden; a sister, Mrs. Stella Espet of Charleston; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Brethren Church at Gatewood with Rev. E. L. Clower in charge. Burial will be in the Huse Memorial Park at Fayetteville. The body will remain at the Dodd-Payne Funeral Home in Fayetteville where friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the funeral.
