Earl C Nance *

Earl Charles died July 8, of pneumonia and congestive heart failure. He was born on October 19, 1919, south of Perkins, , to W.E. and Bertha Nance. He spent his youth in the Tryon-Perkins area and graduated from Capitol High School, in Oklahoma City, in .

He joined the U.S. Army and served in Italy and Africa during World War II. He married Juanita Bronsema, on July 29, . Upon returning from World War II, Earl attended Oklahoma State University, receiving a B.S. in Agronomy. He later attended Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Earl was a Soil Scientist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and spent most of his professional life in Woodward, OK and McAlester, OK, retiring after spending three years in the USDA State Office in Stillwater, OK. He then spent ten years at Oklahoma State University as an adjunct professor working with agronomy students.

After 49 years of marriage, Juanita Bronsema Nance died. Earl later married Juanita Nance and had been married to her 14 years at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Smith Nance; his daughter, Marcia Nance and her husband, Marshall; his daughter, Margaret Cody Sisson; his step-daughter, LuEtta Smith Scott; his granddaughter, Nance Elizabeth Hickman; his grandson, Jim Scott and his wife, JuDean and their two daughters, Morgan and Jamie. He is also survived by one brother, John Nance and his wife, Mary; and one sister, Mary .

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 12, at 10:30 a.m., at Strode Funeral Chapel, Stillwater, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be maded to: The OSU Foundation for the benefit of ITLE (Institute of Teaching and Learning Excellence), P.O. Box 1749, Stillwater, OK 74076-1749.
