Jason Clark King, 75, of Kihei passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013. He was born on Feb.16, 1938 in TipTop, KY. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, Sept. 23, at Borthwick Norman’s Mortuary in Wailuku. Please wear Aloha attire and come ready to celebrate the beautiful life of Jason. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m.; with services at 7 p.m. Cremation will follow.
Jason was a man of many lives and loves. He served in the U.S. Air Force, followed by 25 years of loyal service with the Lafayette Police Department in Indiana, retiring as captain of internal affairs in 1986. Following retirement, Jason moved his family to Maui, where his adventures continued. He enjoyed working at Renaissance Wailea, while also taking a position with the Maui Police Commission.
With sparkling blues eyes and a mischievous smile, Jason lived life to the fullest. His passions included gardening, flying through the islands, playing his harmonica, and spending time camping and hiking with family in Kanaio. “The King” spend most of his life tending to his “three queens.”
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Geraldine Vares King; his daughters Stafka Poweleit (Bob) and Bessie King Waggoner (Michael); his sons David, Matt (Barbara) and Nicky, and siblings Daniel, Mark, Jerry, Gary, Tommy and Kathy. He is predeceased by his eldest son Jeff and four sisters, Cressia, Crystal, Barbara and Dee. He leaves 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
