Dorita Burgess *

ODESSA – Dorita Burgess passed away at Madison Medical Resort on Monday, February 14, at the age of 83. She was born in Kermit on November 29, to Mildred Mallow and Lonnie Marvin Shockey.

Dorita was mother to Chester Marvin , Jack Dennis Morris, Deborah Kay Keese and Pamela Keese Gipson. She raised her family with love and devotion in Odessa, Texas.

Dorita graduated from Kermit High School and received her Radiology License, after years of service she retired from Medical Center Hospital on April 9, 1999. Our mother loved to play jokes and pranks on her brother, Billy Shockey, and close friends. She enjoyed working in her ceramic room and loved creating keepsakes for her grandchildren and zipping around in her red Nissan. Dorita also loved baking her children and grandchildren birthday cakes and quite often her grandchildren would beg her for her famous dirt desert. She also enjoyed her time here at Northside working in the nursery and teaching Vacation Bible School. She left so many memories to be cherished.

Dorita married the love of her life, Bobby Burgess, on December 11, and often spoke of the they would be together again in heaven.

Dorita was proceeded in death by her loving husband Bobby Burgess; parents Lonnie and Mildred Shockey; brothers Billy, Joseph, Gaylon and Timmy Shockey; sisters Faith Bickle, Julina ; and stepson Michael Burgess.

She is survived by sons Chester (Pepper) Morris and wife Brenda of Odessa and Dennis Morris and wife Angela of Lovelady; daughters Debbie Keese and Pamela Keese Gipson, both of Odessa; stepdaughter Lynn Combrink and husband Steve of ; and grandchildren Colby Goolsby, Brandon Goolsby, Alexandria Keese, Amie Moore, April Brann, Amber Harrelson, Whitney Krieger, Cody Morris, Hanna Plank, Bobbie Burgess, Courtney Truelove, Christan Martinez, Jenna Burgess and Gia Burgess.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home on Thursday February 17, 2022 from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Northside Baptist Church in Odessa with Reverend Clydel Chapman presiding. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
