Baxter Potter *
Baxter A Potter, 86, Gas City, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at his residence in Gas City. He was born in Scottsboro, Alabama, on August 2, 1935, to Albert and Suzie (Brownfield) Potter.
Baxter retired from Bell Fiber after 41 years of service. He and his sons owned and operated Potter & Son's Tree Service. He was a member of ABATE region 3. Baxter loved motorcycle trips and collecting junk.
Survivors include children, Tammy (John) Heil of Marion, David Potter of Gas City, and Joyce of Indianapolis; Mark Burke, who was like a son; special nephew, Tom Basham; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Anna Potter, sons, Steve Potter, Baxter Dean Potter, and Robert Potter, granddaughter, Robin Bledso, great-great grandson, Aiden Potter and sister, Geneva Shockey of Jonesboro.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Baxter's life will begin at 12:00 pm. with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
