A Native Californian Al passed away on March 19, 2016 surrounded by his loving wife of 65 years, Ruth, and his two daughters, Lilette (Lou) and Jamie (Mark) Meier.
Al served in the Navy during the Korean War and then began a long and rewarding career in Architectual Millwork with Ball Built and Formatop.
He was passionate about his family and friends and loved spending time with them while enjoying angel hair pasta with red sauce, meatballs, and bocce ball. Al also enjoyed his hobby of woodworking and furniture making and his love of dancing to big band music with his beautiful wife. All who met him would always leave with a big “bear” hug.
We will all miss his larger than life personality. Preceded in death by his son Larry (Stacey), survived by brothers Dennis (Barbara), Gary (Barbara), sisters, Barbara and Jeannie, granddaughters Dresden (Joe), Miranda, grandson Zachary, great granddaughters, Leila and Ashley, dear family friend Randy Scott and many family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating Al’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 2nd at Darling-Fischer, Chapel of the Hills, 615 N. Santa Cruz Ave., Los Gatos, CA 95030. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
