John L Shockey *
John Lewis Shockey, 75, of Lonsdale, Arkansas, passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2022. John was born September 17, 1946, to Johnny Harold and Ramona Carol Shockey in Malvern. He graduated from Magnet Cove High School in 1964, becoming an Ironworker and operating a steel erection business with projects across the country.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and classic cars, but his favorite things were spending time with his family and traveling. John made it to 48 of the 50 states, but would never pass up a chance to take a trip to the Smoky Mountains. He never knew a stranger and, though honest and blunt, was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it.
John is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, two brothers; Harold Wayne and Roy Douglas; daughter-in-law Jenny Lee Shockey.
He was survived by wife, Betty; children John Landon of Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas, Heather Marie (Jacob) Schultz of Benton, and Justin Wayne of Fairplay; grand-children Jade, Jace, Jaxon, and Caroline; great-grandchild Carter; sisters Ruth Ann and Nancy Ellen; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel, service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, at the Atkinson Chapel starting at 11:00 am, with internment following at the Cooper Cemetery in Malvern, Arkansas.
