Olin R Warner *
Olin Ray Warner, age 77, of Maysville, WV, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. He was born on December 19, 1944, in Circleville, WV, the son of the late Ray and Nola Eda Warner. On December 24, 1992, Olin married Nellie (Nelson) Warner, who survives in Maysville, WV.
Olin was a 1963 graduate of Circleville High School and he loved grafting apple trees, deer and bear hunting. He was a member of the Living Hope Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Petersburg VFW and American Legion. Olin had worked at the Green Bank Observatory as a Telescope Operator. He was a jack of many trades and had worked as an electrician, carpenter, masonry, and a devoted farmer.
Olin was a Vietnam Veteran of the US Army, having served with Company A 4/31 of 196th Light Infantry Brigade, known as “The Polar Bears” from September 1965 to July 1967.
In addition to his wife, Olin leaves behind to cherish his memory: a daughter, Jodi Campbell (Hurley Jr.) of Beverly Hills, FL; a son, David Warner (Donna) of Durbin, WV; a step daughter, Amy Shockey (Jay) of Petersburg, WV; a step son, B. Michael Nelson (Roxann) of Franklin, WV; 2 sisters, Nancy W. Swain (Ralph) of Mt. Airy, MD, Doris Koch of Clarksburg, WV; 4 grandchildren, Hurley E. Campbell III, Ashley Collins, Amy Warner, Adam Warner; 5 step grandchildren, Benjamin Shockey, Stephen Hope, Tiffany Brennan, Ashley Tingler, Wesley Tingler; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Olin’s family will receive friends on Thursday, December 22, 2022, 5-7 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will be on Friday, December 23, 2022, at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Matt Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Limb Place Cemetery on the Olin Warner Farm in Teter Gap, Circleville, WV, with Military Honors conducted by the US Army, Camp Dawson.
