Edythe E Shockey *

Edythe Elaine , 84, was born on January 5, in Nash to Floyd Joe Day and Ida Mary Tedford Day.  Edythe passed from this life on 8, surrounded by her children.
She was born and raised in the areas of Nash and Jefferson, graduating from Jefferson School in .  She met her future husband, Ted Shockey, on a blind date, and they were married on November 7, in Wichita, Kansas.
They made their home in Jefferson, where she enjoyed gardening, canning, and writing editorials for Medford and Pond Creek newspapers.
The family moved to Medford in , where her long career in the day care business began.  She continued taking care of children up until four and a half years ago when she entered Greenbrier Nursing Home.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ted; her parents, Floyd and Ida Day, and sister, Ilene.
Those left to cherish her memory are children, Julie Osborn (Scott), Lisa Reimer (Rex), and Jason Shockey (Stephanie); grandchildren, Tim Dillon, Chelsey Riley (Jeff), Abby Osborn, Zeman, Sarah Kretchmar, Charles Orand, Ethan Robertson, and Shockey (Heidi); great grandchildren, Trent, Kaylee, , and TJ Dillon, Haden and Hank Kretchmar, Mila and Milo Robertson, Samuel Riley; nieces, Sheri Hilger and her children, and Jill Grimm and her children, and a host of friends and cousins.
Funeral service for Edythe will be Monday, May 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Jefferson United Methodist Church.  Burial will be at Hawley Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Medford.  Viewing will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home with family present.  www.lanmanmemorials.com  Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
