Laura L Shockey *
Laura Lorraine (Ferrara) Shockey, 96, of Dayton, passed away at her home on Monday, February 19, 2024.
She was born on November 29, 1927, and was a daughter of the late Emilio and Aquilina (Del Negro) Ferrara.
Laura was co-owner of Shockey Motors, and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Laura was united in marriage on Sept. 23, 1956, to John E. Shockey, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2014.
Laura is survived by two children, Donna Laiti and husband, Eric, of Fairfax, and John D. Shockey, and wife Cindy, of Mount Crawford; 4 grandchildren, Christina Sanchez and husband Carlos, Matthew Shockey, Jessica Laiti, and Justin Laiti; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Sanchez, and Alexander Sanchez.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by siblings Lucy DeFrancesco, Angie Hall, Phil Ferrara, Clara Ferrara, Paul Ferrara, Josephine Beaty, and Jean Waldron
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 PM on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 AM on Saturday, Feb. 24th at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with Father Silvio Kaberia officiating. Burial will follow at Dayton Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Sentara RMH and First Choice Hospice for their care over the last few weeks.
